EPS Nomination
Electronic prescription service (EPS)
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service that allows your Doctors
Surgery to send your prescription(s) directly to your nominated pharmacy electronically. This
means that you no longer need to visit your doctor surgery to pick up your prescription(s) and
drop it off at the pharmacy.
How does the service work?
The service is simple. When a GP or other healthcare professional creates an NHS
prescription, it is sent electronically to the pharmacy chosen by the patient. This means that
the patient no longer has to take a paper prescription to the pharmacy. Instead, the
pharmacy will have the prescription on their computer system.
Does EPS work for repeat and one-off prescriptions?
Yes, the EPS system can be used to send repeat prescriptions as well as one-off
prescriptions by your doctor to the pharmacy. If you have not nominated our pharmacy yet
with your GP, you can ask your doctor to send your prescriptions electronically to our
pharmacy.
How do you nominate our pharmacy for EPS?
If you would like us to dispense your prescriptions then you can nominate our pharmacy for
electronic prescription service. This can be done by speaking with a member of staff in-store
or alternatively, let your GP know that you want your prescriptions to be sent to our
pharmacy electronically. If you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to ask in-store.
You can also nominate our pharmacy by completing the online EPS nomination form.
